Dynamic Cupping with Silicone Cups
Cupping, an age-old therapy, boasts a rich history of use spanning millennia in both Chinese and Egyptian medical traditions. I really like to use massage tools to enhance your Deep Tissue Massage experience, and I offer all massage tools (Dynamic cupping as well as Kansa Wands and BioMat) at NO ADDITIONAL COST.
Dynamic cupping with silicone cups aids in myofascial release and helps with relaxation and release of energy stagnation during your treatment. These are medical-grade silicone suction cups. Traditional cupping can be either dry cupping, wet cupping or flash cupping, and I explain the difference in the blog Traditional Cupping vs. Dynamic Cupping in Massage Therapy.
In this form of healing, oil is applied to the skin before creating suction, and once the vacuum is created, the cup is gently moved over the skin to provide inverse massage therapy. I use them with gliding massage motions for myofascial or scar tissue release. The suction vacuum elevates and divides the layers of tissue, establishing a favorable healing environment.
Benefits of Dynamic Cupping?
- Injuries – Promotes improved blood circulation to facilitate tissue recovery, simultaneously drawing toxins away from the affected area
- Lowers Acute or Chronic Pain – Arising from migraines and repetitive muscle strain
- Stress – Enhanced blood circulation can lead to a sensation of relief and tranquility
- Respiratory Issues – Applying suction cups to the chest can augment blood flow and promote the drainage of lymphatic fluid
Is Cupping right for you?
In general, cupping isn’t good for children under four and any seniors, especially those suffering from fragile blood vessels or being diabetic. Anyone who has issues with bruising and blood clots should not do cupping.
Are there side effects of cupping?
Will you run around like Michael Phelps with those circular cruising marks? No. The consensus among experts is that cupping is considered safe. Those circular marks result from the use of glass-type cups used in Acupuncture sessions and NOT from silicone cups used in Heavenly Embrace Wellness. Besides, those markings are temporary and typically fade over 10 days if you get them in your Acupuncturist’s office.
The most common side effect is the mild discomfort associated with the skin suction. It’s exceedingly rare for cupping to lead to any significant issues.
I use cupping when I see fit, if my client can benefit from it and after reviewing their health history. You can also request cupping when you book your Deep Tissue Massage.
