Emotional Release: Tune In To Your Body

Massage and bodywork can enhance your awareness of tension in your body. This may be the first step in releasing it in form of an Emotional Release. Additionally, it helps you tune into YOU by reducing stress with breathing exercises and connecting to your diaphragmatic breathing

At some point in your life, for example, you may have tightened your muscles after an experience of grief, fear or an accident. Over time, these constricted muscles may have dulled the awareness of pain and emotion. Or they might have blocked the body’s flow of energy or breath. This may have led to even more tension and pain.

When muscle tension is released, you can observe what it feels like to relax. Then you can work toward consciously creating that feeling of ease in between bodywork sessions.

Massage can trigger emotional release to get rid of emotional baggage

During a session, a realigned and relaxed body part might unexpectedly unleash stored emotions. This phenomenon, though surprising, offers a profoundly purifying encounter. While it could initially raise concerns, rest assured, it’s a positive step towards shedding emotional baggage. This notion of emotional release isn’t a novelty. It has been embraced in Asian cultures for generations and integrated into Psychoanalysis during the mid-20th century.

Suddenly, a cascade of emotions – sadness, fear, anger, resentment – finds its liberation. The underlying principle is that while certain emotions are naturally processed, others we suppress can be ensnared within. And that is wreaking havoc on our well-being. These emotions can manifest as headaches, muscular tension, chronic pain, and other ailments, as well as bursts of emotions like anger and grief. So, don’t be startled by this cathartic experience – it’s a vital stride towards holistic health.

What does emotional release look like?

While your massage therapist tends to your muscles and joints, they might unlock the tension your body has held onto for extensive periods. Individual responses vary, but you could find yourself in fits of uncontrollable laughter or experiencing an unexpected surge of tears. Shivers or heightened breathing might also emerge. Alternatively, you could feel an urge to curl up in a fetal position. Please understand there’s no need for embarrassment. I’ve witnessed a wide range of reactions, and it’s all-natural, and you have little control over it. Know that in Heavenly Embrace Wellness clinic, you are safe, protected and unjudged…

In fact, it is a privilege to join you on this emotional journey. Being a part of your process and aiding in releasing pent-up energy is truly an honor. Your response is valid and respected, and it signifies a significant step toward emotional well-being. If you experience this emotional release, you will feel like a weight was suddenly lifted. I suggest you work on your self-care. A good start is to read my blogs “How to Stop Self-Sabotage” or “5 Easy Steps to Boost Your State of Being”.

Breathing as a tool

The breath comes in again as a helpful tool! So the emotion won’t engross us but will help us ‘ride the wave’ of the emotion (E-Motion = Energy in Motion) and release it from our bodies. In your everyday life, practicing breathing exercises is a great way to build awareness, relax and let go of tension.

Let me help you release those pesky negative emotions with massage therapy, energy work and/or  Reflexology. Book your session by clicking above. I’m looking forward to seeing you at my clinic. 🙂
