Bust Work Stress – Tips to Feel Better and Work Better

Letting stress build up at work can lead to tension and irritability and can even cause you to dislike an otherwise interesting job. Here are some suggestions to better manage the effects of work stress.

Tips to Feel Better and Work Better

Pace yourself

Keep your expectations of yourself and co-workers realistic and don’t make a habit of putting in crazy extra hours. Subsequently, if you find yourself trying to meet unrealistic expectations, learn to distance yourself emotionally or take up a physically demanding sport.

Set boundaries

Accept that you can only do so much and give yourself wholeheartedly to that. In fact, be willing to say “no” when needed and be ok with it. Let go of guilt and shame that sometimes are associated with setting new boundaries and practice compassion towards yourself.

Take breaks to get away

Stretch! And don’t ignore your coffee/tea break. Even better yet, take a water break or a brisk walk or at least take 5 long, relaxed breaths. Deep and mindful breathing is under rated and can change your whole perspective.

Take time for yourself to review and evaluate the big picture

Listen to your inner voice about what’s important and what is not. Listen to your body and the signals it gives you and act upon them if needed. Don’t ignore your body nor your emotions. Close your eyes and meditate for a few minutes in order to have a broader perspective about a pressing issue.

Laugh

Find the humor in your life. So, watch funny movies on your spare time to remind you to lighten up and be willing to laugh at yourself. Laughter has many benefits to our health and can lower your blood pressure and strengthen your immune system.

Get a massage or any other bodywork

Massage is proved to help reduce mental stress and anxiety and relieve muscle tension from hours next to your desk that can lead to pain and injury. Reflexology session can help you get out of your busy mind and drop back into your body.

Stress: the confusion created when one’s mind overrides the body’s basic desire to choke the living daylights out of some jerk who desperately deserves it.” ~Anonymous

Have a productive day 🙂

Highly recommend Liraz

Liraz is the best massage therapist I have worked with. She combines expert knowledge of anatomy with her sensitive intuition. She takes time to talk with you to learn your specific needs and follows up on future visits. She adapts her approach based on your preferences. She has alleviated pain in several areas for me, and suggested exercises and stretches I can do at home to maintain the improvements. Her office setting and personality are serene and relaxing. I always leave feeling significantly better physically and spiritually. I highly recommend Liraz and Heavenly Embrace Wellness.
